Machinima in GTA 5

The rules of the site prohibit me from just taking and posting a video (it’s no wonder, there are a lot of such smart people), so I’ll tell you a little about the process of shooting and editing, and also compare a little with the experience of real filming.

Preface
Recently my video card broke and for some time I could neither play nor edit. And just at this time, a general concept and some frames for a small video with music in GTA began to emerge in my head. And I constantly caught myself thinking, “If I have a vision, then I’ll implement it.”. Unexpectedly for myself, two weeks ago I had it repaired.

First of all, the https://casino-genting.co.uk/ script and storyboard.
Everything here is similar, if you do not take into account the technical limitations of the game editor and the almost limitless number of angles, which in real life would be very expensive and painstaking to implement.

Film crew
It’s one thing when you hire actors and they have, roughly speaking, financial interest. Or even students who need experience. And the players are something completely different. They are not initially interested. They just get bored and do all sorts of crap. It is very difficult to organize filming.
Although, on the other hand, there are no sound people, no operator. You choose the desired frame yourself and there are no more hours of chatter about how best to shoot.

Filming process
Holy Father, forgive me, a sinner… I had to cheat. Don’t throw stones, I had to.
Firstly, time in GTA goes 60 times faster than in life. And for the scene of night street racing you need, oddly enough, night. Plus, you need to constantly repair vehicles so that everything looks beautiful, despawn bots and cars that get in the way. By the way, if you think that it would be easier to enter the race and take everything off there, then everything is not so simple here either. I wanted both sports cars and classic muscle cars to participate in the race. And in GTA you cannot create a race in which vehicles of different classes can participate. Well, at least you can create a closed session for friends so that other players don’t interfere.

Installation
For those who were involved in the installation, there is no need to explain how labor-intensive this process is. For those who have never tried it, take my word for it, it’s true. Now imagine that you need to edit first in the game, and then in an editing program. Adding fuel to the fire is the nuance that you need to adjust the timing to the music. When filming ended, everyone ran away, and I sat down to edit and discovered one serious flaw.
Note to all those who are planning to do something similar – take the duration of the frame and the coincidence of the storyboard with the music very seriously, otherwise it will turn out like mine =)
I grabbed my head, not understanding what to do next. It would be almost impossible to gather everyone for additional filming, at least in the near future. Simply sketching frames from the footage would lead to a sharp decrease in overall quality.
The solution came after the second cup of tea. It was necessary to cut the audio track. In total, almost a minute was amputated from the original version of the song. I tried to make it so that the “naked ear” would not notice the gluing. I hope it worked.

In conclusion, I want to say that it was a good experience and I would like to do something similar in the future. And if you have a desire to cooperate and do something together, then I’m for.
